Science
Our science series is published by Harcourt and it is a 2008 edition. The series is broken into three major science areas which are: Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science. The Life Science unit covers the topics of “Living Things in Our World” and “Living Things Interact”. In Earth Science we will learn about “Earth’s Land” and “Weather and Space”. In the final unit of Physical Science we will be “Investigating Energy and Matter” and “Exploring Forces”. There are many hands on activities for the students as well as opportunities for them to investigate topics at home. It will be an exciting year in science.
Social Studies
Social Studies covers communities. We will be looking at the different sections of our country in relation to communities, as well as the history of the areas. The students will also be tested on the states and capitals of the four sections of the United States.
**Third grade curriculum alternates the study of Science and Social Studies. We will switch between the two subjects after completion of a unit of study.
